Regulation of the Matches
Regulation of the Matches
All matches shall be conducted in accordance with FIK’s “The Regulations of Kendo Shiai and Shinpan (July 26,2023)” and “Handbook for Kendo Shiai and Shinpan Management (July 7, 2025)”. Any amendment rules as decided and adopted by the FIK BODM shall apply after the approval of this Program and Regulations.

The categories of 20WKC are as follows; Women’s Individual Championship, Men’s Individual Championship, Women’s Team Championship and Men’s Team Championship.
Eligibility for Participation
Eligibility for Participation
(1) Participating Organizations
FIK affiliated organization is eligible to participate in the WKC. A non-affiliated organization, whose FIK affiliation is approved at the BODM in the preceding year of 20WKC, is also eligible.
(2) Competitors
Competitors participating in 20WKC are required to meet the following requirements.
a.Officially registered membership of the participating organization.
b.In, principle, nationality of a country the participating competitor represents at the time of the Final Entry.
c.Competitors must have been born on and before May 27, 2011.
d.Competitors must have completed the pre-learning, as specified in the “Anti-Doping Pre-Learning for Participation in the 20WKC”.
Method of Championships
Method of Championships
(1) Individual Championships
Preliminary Heats
In the preliminary heats, the matches will be conducted in a round robin format. The 1st place competitor in each group shall progress to the final tournament.
The match time will be 4 minutes with sanbon-shobu. If the match is not decided within regulation time, it will be declared a draw.
Final Tournament
Competitors who won the Preliminary Heats group will go to the final tournament. Final tournament will be done in 5 minutes with sanbon-shobu for both men and women. When same number of ippon is scored, the match will go into extra time (encho-sen). The match time will be 3 minutes and will be repeated until the winner is determined.
Awards
The 1st, 2nd and 3rd (2 people) placed competitors and 8 “Fighting Spirit Awards” shall be commended. The selection committee members who are nominated by the FIK President shall select the Fighting Spirit Awards.
(2) Team Championships
Preliminary Heats
As a basic rule, in the preliminary heats groups shall consist of 3 teams and shall be contested in a round robin format. The 1st team of each group will proceed to the final tournament, however, there is a possibility that 2nd team of the group can also proceed to the final tournament.
The time of the match will be 4 minutes for both Men’s and Women’s matches with sanbon-shobu.
Final Tournament
The Final Tournament will be contested by the teams that advanced from each group in the Preliminary Heats.
Match time in the Final Tournament will be 5 minutes with sanbon-shobu. If there is no result within the regulated time, the match is declared a draw.
Awards
In both men’s and women’s competitions, the 1st, 2nd and 3rd (2 teams) place teams and 8 Fighting Spirit Awards shall be commended. The selection committee members, who are nominated by the FIK President, shall select the Fighting Spirit Competitors.

Photography and Video Recording during the Event
Regarding photography, video, and audio recording (hereinafter referred to “Video Recording, etc.”) at this tournament, as well as handling of the result images and audio (hereinafter referred to “Recorded images, etc.”), the following rules will be applied, in addition to any provisions set forth in the program.
(1) Video recordings for personal use at events such as competitions are permitted in accordance with the following provisions. However, recordings for commercial purposes or for the purpose of public disclosure or distribution to an unspecified number of people are prohibited. This restriction does not apply when permission is obtained from the organizer.
(2) Video recording at the venues as well as competitions should be conducted using equipment and methods that do not interfere with the operation of the event, in areas where it is not prohibited, and care shall be taken not to cause inconvenience to others.
(3) Regarding video images and other data captured at event venues such as tournaments, they should not be distributed to unspecified members of the public or disseminated and made publicly available via the Internet or other means, regardless of whether such distribution is paid or unpaid. However, this restriction does not apply when conducted with permission from the organizer.
